CHESS 4 HOPE

In early 2007, Zach Schonberger, a dedicated volunteer at Ikamva Labantu, decided to address the problems found in the township schools by initiating a chess programme with an aim to introduce children from disadvantaged communities to the game of chess.

JOURNEY TO THE PEAK

In July 2009 Jeremy Chaitman and his daughter Lara will be hiking Mount Elbrus in Russia — the highest peak in Europe. With each step taken, they are hoping to raise funds for iKamva Labantu and Francois Pienaar's MAD foundation. Visit www.journeytothepeak.com for more information.

Ikamva Labantu extends a heartfelt thank you to all the Capetonians who participated in the Cape Talk Radio-thon on Monday 26 January. An incredible amount of R 3.75-million was raised through pledges in support of vulnerable children living in the Western Cape.
