For R150 per month you can provide a child with after-school nourishment
Multipurpose Centre

In recent years it has become clear that the most efficient and effective way Ikamva Labantu can help the communities we serve is to coordinate many of our activities in central hubs in the townships. We call these hubs our Multi-purpose Centres. These facilities are being built on key sites in communities as central points from which direct assistance can be rendered to each community. Pre-schools, after-school activities, seniors groups, food gardens and resources for job creation co-exist in safe, well-managed local environments alongside facilities and services for vulnerable children and their care-givers.

You can provide a wholesome snack for a child who attends a Multi-purpose centre for after- school and weekend care and activities. This would include soup or another hot nourishing drink, a protein-filled sandwich and a piece of fruit.

For R230 per month you can teach a child to play chess
Chess for Hope

You can help a young person develop their thinking skills through chess. This donation will pay for a personal chess board, an instruction guide, and tuition from a professional coach and the opportunity to participate in tournaments.

In August 2009, 19 eager Chess 4 Hope players aged between 7 and 12, participated in a school tournament in Cape Town. They attained the top six positions in the under10 section, beating participants from top schools who had been playing chess for far longer. Our Chess 4 Hope children, have been chosen to be in the junior Western Province chess squad. No small feat!
